The technique of burning an ISO image file to a USB depends on the operating system of the computer. In most versions of Microsoft Windows, simply selecting the ISO with a mouse and moving it to the USB is sufficient to burn it on the device.
On other operating systems, software may be necessary to facilitate the burning of an ISO image to USB. Selecting the ISO and clicking the 'burn' button transfers all the data to the target drive. In Windows 7 and 8, ISO files are opened just by clicking on them because the software is built in. Earlier versions of Windows require separate ISO-burning software.
