Google Finance’s My Portfolio tool provides a simple, user-friendly interface to help users update and view their financial information in a customizable format. To use this tool, you only need to sign up for a free Google account. You do not need to provide personal information such as credit card details.
By clicking on the Portfolios link at the top of the Google Finance home page, you can create your personal portfolio. You can update it by adding stocks and mutual funds that you already own, or want to track. As asset prices change, the tool tracks the value of these holdings and provides a consolidated summary for each trading day. The portfolio provides different viewing modes, such as Overview mode and Fundamental mode, depending on what information you require at any given time. The tool provides reliable, albeit non-real-time data which it updates every 20 minutes.
My Portfolio allows you to set or change your preferred currency, and also track cash that you deposit to or withdraw from your accounts. You can view your financial transactions and change the details of these records, such as transaction type, share price, date and commissions paid. After creating a portfolio, you can also participate in discussion groups to find and explore information related to your stocks.
