SUM, COUNT, CONCATENATE and LEN are some basic formulas to use in Excel. These are predefined formulas that perform operations within user-specified parameters or arguments. Formulas begin with the equal sign, enclose parameters in parentheses and make use of operators and cell references to manipulate cell data.
The SUM formula adds all values of specific cells and returns the total value. COUNT determines the number of cells within a range that contain numbers. CONCATENATE merges multiple values from multiple cells into one cell. LEN is useful for finding the number of characters in a cell, including spaces. Functions are often practical when data manipulation involves several cells.
