Mark Cuban rebranded HDNet under the new name, AXS TV in 2012, which is not available on Time Warner Cable. The failure of Cuban and Time Warner Cable to reach agreement in contract negotiations led to Time Warner dropping HDNet from all of its systems nationwide in 2009.
A Time Warner Cable representative cited limited appeal for HDNet programming as a reason for the decision. Time Warner Cable initially offered HDNet and HDNet Movies in the HD Xtra premium services tier, which cost subscribers up to $8.95 more per month in some markets. Dish Network picked up AXS as part of an expanded distribution deal in 2012.
