The average monthly cell phone plan from major American providers, such as Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile, costs about $70, as of 2015, according to Time Magazine. Smaller wireless providers, such as Sprint and Virgin Mobile, average around $50 per month.
Verizon plans range from $30 to $100 per month, AT&T plans range from $45 to $175 per month and T-Mobile plans range from $50 to $95 per month. Most phone plans include unlimited talk and text and vary in monthly data allowances.
In addition to wireless providers' base rates, actual monthly costs include fees such as the cost of a new device, taxes and excess phone usage charges.
