Straight Talk plans will be activated on an AT&T compatible device by changing the Access Point Name or APN settings on the device. Straight Talk is a brand of prepaid wireless service provider in the United States. According to its website, Straight Talk offers prepaid wireless services at half the cost of many companies, using the same phones and carriers.
Straight Talk is operated by TracFone Wireless Inc., which is a subsidiary of America Movil, which is Mexico's largest telecom company. It functions as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that provides service using the networks of other carriers in United States. Apart from AT&T, TracFone Wireless also has agreements with Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular.
To activate Straight Talk services and plans on an AT&T mobile device change the following values on the APN settings:
- NAME: straight talk
- APN: tfdata
- Port: 80
- MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
- MMS PROXY: mm3.tracfone.com
- MMS PORT: 80
After activating the Straight Talk plans, users can use up to 5 GB of high speed 4G LTE data in locations where such service is available. Once the user consumes the 5 GB of data for the plan, the Internet speed will be reduced to as low as 64 kbps for the duration of the data plan.
