Individuals interested in the Assurance phone program can go to the Assurance website, select How to Qualify from the top menu and choose their state. They can qualify either based on participation in other government benefit programs or based on income. Individuals can apply online, through a printed form or by calling. Assurance also allows people to switch to their service from another free cell phone program.
Assurance allows one phone line per household, although multiple households living at the same address can qualify. Customers may also pay for additional minutes or to add data to their plans. They can add money through their phones or the Assurance website. Customers can also purchase Virgin Mobile Top-Up cards for this service in many stores.
Customers must certify their eligibility annually to continue receiving this service. Assurance notifies customers when it is time for certification. Customers can complete their annual certification through the mail, website or phone. Those who no longer qualify have the option to switch to a regular Virgin Mobile plan.
