To download free apps from the Apps section, navigate to Microsoft.com, click on the Software & Apps link in the navigation menu, hover over the Windows entry, and click on Windows 8.1, the latest version of the Windows 8 operating system as of June 2015. Open the Apps+Games tab, and click on the See Top Free Apps button. Click on any of the available apps or use the search field to find a specific app. After you select an app, the website displays its description, age rating, size and a list of features.
