Some applications that track airline flights include FlightTrack, GateGuru and FlightView. These applications are available to be downloaded to either an Android or iOS platform. While most of them are available for free, FlightTrack does requires a one-time fee of $4.99, as of 2015.
FlightTrack is the only paid-for service from the recommended applications. However, it is also the only application that works without the use of an Internet connection. Some of the most prominent features include real-time updates on flight delays and cancellations, including access to a database housing more than 3,000 airports.
GateGuru is a product from TripAdvisor.com. It is considered one of the most popular flight tracking applications, retaining a positive review score from more than 35,000 users, notes TripAdvisor.com. The application allows for complete customization of daily travel plans. After inputting the basic itinerary information, the application provides information as to where to check in, wait times and delays.
Like GateGuru, FlightView is also free for both iOS and Android users. This application does not have as many features as those listed above, but it does provide a way to create a checklist including information about car rentals and hotel reservations. The hardest part of using this application is completing the sign-up process but, after that, it essentially acts on its own.
