Some apps that allow video chat on the iPad include ooVoo, PalTalk, FaceTime, Skype and Fring. All of these apps are free but may require in-app purchases to access additional features.
FaceTime is video chat software developed by Apple as part of iOS, the iPad's operating system. FaceTime is installed on the iPad by default and requires set up in the Settings menu. Select FaceTime, tap the switch icon to turn FaceTime on, and select Use your Apple ID for FaceTime. Next, select the e-mail and phone number to associate with FaceTime's Caller ID feature. You can activate FaceTime using Siri voice commands or by tapping the FaceTime button on-screen during a conversation.
