To apply for Global Entry status, fill out an online application after making sure you meet the eligibility requirements. Once the application is reviewed, schedule an interview where a Border Patrol Agent asks questions and gathers information. Identification must be provided at the interview and the interview determines final eligibility.
Global Entry is available to any U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, German, Dutch, Panamanian and South Korean citizen, or Mexican national. To qualify, the application must be filled out completely and truthfully. Anyone who is a convicted criminal, or who has outstanding warrants or criminal charges, may not be eligible. Anyone under 18 years old can apply as long as a parent or guardian has given permission.
Global Entry is a service started by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency that allows quicker entry into the United States for pre-approved travelers who are deemed low risk. Once approved for Global Entry, a traveler can visit one of the program's kiosks that allow him to present his passport, have his fingerprints scanned and fill-out a customs declaration form. From there, he can move on to baggage claim and exit the airport. Sometimes these pre-approved travelers are still pulled aside for additional questions or examination.
