To activate the Garmin card, first check the list of compatible items printed on the packing materials. The next step is to read the system requirements present on the packing.
You must use a computer that meets the minimum system requirements to activate the Garmin card. Access Garmin.com and navigate to the activation page. Obtain the product key from the card by gently scratching off the grey material on the back of the card.
Create a Garmin account (if you have not already done so) by clicking the Create One button. Fill out all the requested details in addition to the product key on the back of the card. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the creation of the account. If you have an existing Garmin account, enter the username and password in addition to the product key from the back of the card. Then, click the Activate My Subscription option.
The website then displays the myGarmin homepage with a message banner at the top of the page prompting for the activation. Click the Activate Now button to proceed. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate the map update to the GPS device. The myGarmin account provides a notification about the availability of an update for download through Garmin Express. The activation of the card to the device is now complete.
