As of 2015, self-installation kits for cable, phone and Internet devices need activation when picked up from service centers or received by mail. Before attempting to activate your device, follow the enclosed directions in the kit to connect and power up the device. Visit the Comcast website to activate the device online by verifying your account with your phone number and account number. Once you verify the account, type in the requested information from the activation screens, such as the serial number of the device. Comcast requests this information to make sure you are correctly activating the right equipment.
To activate your device using an automated telephone system, contact the activation support line at 855-OK-BEGIN. You need the last four numbers of the serial number from the device, the phone number associated with the account, and the place you plan to put the device in your home. If you need more help, live support is available 24 hours a day. A phone representative can walk you through the process to set up the device. If you are unable to activate the device, the representative can schedule a field technician to install the device for you for a reduced installation fee.
