  1. Connect your printer to the Internet

    Disconnect your printer from your AirPort base if you are currently using a wired printing system. Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Choose the same network you use for the device from which you wish to print. In most cases, it is best to choose a secure home or office Wi-Fi network. Wait for the printer to connect to the network; the process may take a few minutes.

  2. Update your software

    Ensure that AirPrint works effectively by updating the software on your computer, mobile phone or tablet. On an iPhone or iPad, update to the latest version of iOS, and update your printing app. On a laptop, use the Software Update utility to get the latest updates.

  3. Add the printer to your device

    From a computer, open the System Preferences window. Click on View, and choose Print & Scan. Click on the + button, and click on the name of your printer in the list that pops up.
