My Access works by walking students through the process of creating a narrative, persuasive or informative writing essay. It provides activities to do along the way and allows students to earn points which can be used for rewards.
My Access is a computer program that helps teach writing. It walks students through the pre-writing phase and revisions as well as helps them through the main writing phase of a paper. Students may earn points that go toward rewards and the program works closely with parents who can add assignments and set rewards.
There is a student section in My Access that has more than 30 different writing prompts, divided into different age groups. This allows students to write about what interests them, making assignments more interesting.
Once a topic is chosen, students can work through introductory, supporting and closing paragraphs, learn how to write a hook, and look at papers that outline the dos and don'ts of writing. This helps them understand what makes a good paper and can help them avoid common mistakes.
Since many students feel overwhelmed when beginning the process of essay writing, My Access breaks it down into manageable parts, allowing students to work toward small milestones. When a student finishes an essay, he submits it and it is evaluated. The program then suggests revisions and together with My Access, the student produces the best possible paper.
