To use Backup Assistant, go to the App Store on a Verizon phone, and search for "Backup Assistant." Download the app and open it by touching the icon on the phone screen. From the app, perform manual backups or set details for automatic backups.

Backup Assistant allows Verizon Wireless customers to easily transfer contacts when they purchase a new phone. The old phone needs Backup Assistant installed on it to do the transfer. When you open the program on your new phone, Backup Assistant prompts you to enter a PIN. Choose the Restore option to transfer your contacts to the new device.

To access the contacts from the Backup Assistant website, enter the same user ID and password used for My Verizon. Users not already registered for My Verizon need to do so before accessing Backup Assistant online. The online access allows users to add, delete, restore, import, export and print contact information. Online users can also manage mobile groups and add photos to contacts.
