Accelerated Reader is a computer reading program that provides books and magazines for students to read along with quizzes that match the reading material, according to About.com. The program is designed to motivate students to read, while allowing teachers to track student reading progress.
Accelerated Reader's features have been updated, and its new name is Accelerated Reader 360, according to its developing company, Renaissance Learning. New features include a non-fiction articles database that students can browse by subject, a highlight-and-tag activity for articles, and new writing prompts that assess student understanding. Accelerated Reader 360 also provides reading data graphs to help teachers evaluate past quiz results.
