Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the winner of the 2014 NASCAR Daytona 500 auto race. The race, delayed by more than 6 hours due to rain, took place on February 23rd.
Earnhardt led 54 laps of the 200 lap-race, driving his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet to victory lane. The victory ended a 55-race winless streak for Earnhardt, who held off Denny Hamlin on the last lap for the win. Hamlin took second place while Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson completed the top five finishers. It was Earnhardt's second Daytona 500 victory, with the first occurring 10 years before. There were six caution flags during the race as a result of crashes, and another occurred during the last lap allowing Earnhardt to claim victory.
