Real Madrid scored three times in the second half of extra time to defeat Atletico. Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristano Ronaldo scored for Real Madrid after the regulation 90 minutes finished 1-1. Diego Godin scored in the 36th minute for Atletico, but Sergio Ramos scored for Real Madrid three minutes into stoppage time to force an extra 30 minutes.
Sevilla and Benfica of Portugal finished 0-0 after 120 minutes, but Sevilla won the penalty shootout, 4-2, to win the Europa championship.
