The top five money leaders for the 2014 PGA Tour were Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Jimmy Walker and Sergio Garcia. McIlroy golfed in 17 events and earned $8.28 million, beating Watson's $6.34 million second-place total by nearly $2 million. Furyk finished third with $5.99 million in winnings.
McIlroy topped the money list on the strength of a five-week hot streak, during which he won The Open Championship, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship. He earned over $1.5 million for each of those victories. Watson competed in more events, but won only one tournament, the Masters Tournament. The top 100 earners during the 2014 season each won over $1 million.
