The Wally is a statue-trophy made in the image of a human, and it represents the highest honor in National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) auto racing. The trophy gets its name from NHRA founder Wally Parks, and it is given to championship winners.
The Wally can be said to be drag racing's version of the Oscar. As such, the Wally is a highly coveted honor, but it's what the award represents that racers tend to want more than just the trophy itself. The trophy depicts a male racer standing next to a tire; this is plated in brass and placed atop a wooden base upon which an engraved plaque is attached.
