The USC Trojans are the men's and women's athletic teams that represent the University of Southern California, although the women's teams are often referred to as the Women of Troy. There are 21 varsity teams, including football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's water polo and men's and women's volleyball.
The USC Trojans are most famous for their football team. The team was started in 1888 and has gone on to become voted National Champions 11 times. The Trojans have produced seven Heisman Trophy winners, the second most all time, as of 2015, and 497 Trojans have been selected in the NFL Draft since 2011.
The baseball team has also experienced great success with 12 national championships to its name, which is more than any other university. The Trojans have either won or tied for first place in their division 38 times. There have been 100 Trojans to go on and play in the MLB since 2011.
The USC men's basketball team is often overshadowed by their rivals at UCLA, but the women's team has historically been very successful. The women's basketball team has produced many great players, such as Lisa Leslie, Tina Thompson and Cheryl Miller. The women's volleyball team has also experienced an extreme amount of success, with six national championships to its name.
