You can make turns on a skateboard by shifting your weight to the balls or heels of your feet while riding it. Sharper turns can be made by popping the front wheels up and pointing the board in the direction you want to go.
- Balance on the skateboard, and start moving
Stand on your skateboard, and find your balance. Push off with one foot to start moving in a straight line.
- Shift your weight to turn
Practice shifting your weight toward the balls of your feet. This moves your board in the direction that your toes are pointing. To move in the opposite direction, shift your weight toward your heels.
- Try a sharper turn
Make a sharp turn by popping the front of your board upward while in motion. Use your toes to turn the front of the board in the direction you want to go, then put the front wheels back on the ground by shifting your weight forward.
