Past Triple Crown winners include Rogers Hornsby, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle and Miguel Cabrera. As of 2015, the feat has been accomplished by hitters just 17 times in history by 15 different players.
Hornsby (1922, 1925) and Williams (1942, 1947) are the only hitters in history to win the award twice. Gehrig's 1934 Triple Crown campaign included 49 home runs, 166 runs batted in and a .363 batting average. Mantle belted 52 home runs and drove in 130 to win the Crown in 1956, while also helping the Yankees to the World Series title. In 2012, the Detroit Tigers' Cabrera became the first Triple Crown winner since the Red Sox's Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.
