At the 2005 NFL Scouting Combine, Darren Sproles ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds. He was timed at 1.55 seconds at the 10-yard mark and 2.62 seconds at the 20-yard mark.
Although the 40-yard dash is the NFL Scouting Combine's prestige event, player hopefuls are put through several tests to measure speed, power and agility in the four-day event traditionally held in Indianapolis, Ind. At the bench press, athletes are tested for strength and endurance; Sproles did 23 repetitions with the standard 225-pound weight. He completed the three-cone drill, designed to measure cutting and direction-changing agility, in 6.96 seconds.
