Mitchell State Park is an ideal spot to camp, fish or boat. The park has two lakes within its borders and the entire park is pet friendly with access to boat launches and plenty of hiking trails.
During the summer months, Mitchell State Park offers many activities. Boating, shore fishing, golfing and tubing are all activities the family can enjoy. The park also offers mountain biking trails.
The park issues canoe permits every day for use in the Pine and Manistee Rivers. The Pine River is an excellent destination for paddlers. Boating can be done on one of the two lakes that runs through the park, or along one of its many rivers. Those who prefer fishing can take advantage of fishing lessons, an onsite tackle shop and guided fishing trips.
Biking trails allow road bikes and motorcycles to travel through the rugged terrain. With more than 200 miles of trails, Mitchell State Park provides visitors with long bike rides totaling 20 miles or more.
Mitchell State Park also offers plenty of hiking opportunities. Some of the most popular trails include the White Pine, Pere Marquette and Manistee Trails. Some trails are perfect for families with kids, while others are a little more advanced.
