How Tall Is an Average Female Voleyball Player?

According to data from the London 2012 Olympic Games, the average female volleyball player stood at around 180 centimeters, or 5 feet and 9 inches tall. The tallest volleyball players typically play as middle-blockers or receiver-attackers, and the smallest seem to excel as liberos or setters.

The FIVB, the governing body responsible for all forms of volleyball on a global level, found that height does play a role in volleyball, but because varying heights favor players of different positions the sport is ideally suited for players of different sizes.

This is excellent news for keen volleyball players who are shorter in stature, as the common misconception that volleyball is only for taller players is entirely incorrect.
