Super Bowl XLIX was held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on February 1, 2015. This game was played between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
The University of Phoenix Stadium opened its doors in 2006. It holds an impressive 63,400 spectators and is expandable to at least 72,200. The stadium was chosen to host the game several years ago by the NFL, and this is the Super Bowl's third visit to Arizona.
When a city competes with other cities to hold special events like the Super Bowl, it send out special delegates to prove to organizations such as the NFL why its city is the best. Things like tourism, amenities and hotels are considered in the decision. Arizona was eventually chosen over Tampa, Florida.
