The 2015 Dodge Barracuda is sized similarly to the Ford Mustang. The front suspension is a strut setup while the back wheels have a multilink setup. The Barracuda is offered with the Hemi V-8 engine, and may possibly offer V-6 and inline four cylinder models.
The 2015 Dodge Barracuda is intended to replace the Dodge Challenger. This new model is 6 inches shorter in wheelbase than the Challenger, and 8 inches shorter overall. The width of the Barracuda is 2 inches smaller than the Challenger, and lighter components promise a 250 to 300 pound reduction in total weight. This reduction in weight, in combination with efficient engine options, results in an improved engine economy over the Barracuda's predecessor.
Engine options for the Barracuda include the 2.4 liter Tigershark inline four cylinder and the 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6, as well as the classic V-8 Hemi. A supercharged Hemi may be available as well in the 2015 Barracuda. The Barracuda's platform is being designed jointly with Fiat in an attempt to appeal to an international market and compete with sport car brands such as Maserati and Lancia. Transmission options include conventional and dual clutch automatics, as well as six- or seven-speed manual transmissions.
