As of 2014, Sir David Edward Murray runs a company called Murray International Holdings Group. The businessman used to own Rangers football club, one of Scotland's most successful soccer teams.
Murray bought Rangers from the club's then-owner Lawrence Marlborough for £6 million on Nov. 23, 1988. He became the team's chairman, a position he would hold until 2009, when he was replaced by Alastair Johnston. The team's main training ground, Murray Park, is named after him. Murray sold his controlling interest in Rangers to businessman Craig Whyte in May 2011. In 2012, Rangers was liquidated due to tax issues. Murray has been a Knight Bachelor since 2007.
