In the Philippines, the scouting month traditionally takes place through all of October. Scouting month is a joint celebration between the Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines to celebrate the founding of the Boy Scouts organization in the country.
The Boy Scouts of the Philippines was founded as an independent organization on Oct. 31, 1936 by an act called the Commonwealth Act No. 111. The founding is largely credited to the late Tomas Confessor who authored the bill. During the first day of scouting month on Oct. 1, a parade is held in Baguio city which showcases various scouting organizations from around the Philippines.
