Colombia beat El Salvador 3-0 in 2014 to emerge the winners in a match widely regarded as sensational. Radamel Falcao scored the first goal in the eighth minute. Carlos Bacca scored the other two goals in the 49th and 51st minutes.
Colombia dominated the match from the outset, pressuring El Salvador on its half in the course of the game. El Salvador squandered its chance to level the score before halftime through Marvin Monterrossa. Bacca scored two goals two minutes apart, wrapping up Colombia’s win. All three goals were from close range as a result of El Salvador’s crumbling defense. Falcao was praised as the Colombian captain since he had just recovered from a knee injury. It was also his first goal after one year.
