Through the 2014-2015 season, Duke has won the most ACC men's basketball championships, and Maryland has won the most ACC women's basketball championships. Duke has won the men's tournament 19 times while Maryland has won the women's tournament 10 times.
Unlike some conferences, the ACC recognizes the winner of the conference's postseason tournament as the conference champion. North Carolina is second to Duke with 17 ACC men's basketball championships, and North Carolina State is third with 10 championships. Clemson is the conference's only original member with no ACC men's basketball championships. In women's basketball, North Carolina is second to Maryland with nine championships, and Duke is third with eight championships.
