The National Golf Association reports that 45 percent of golfers make over 100 strokes per round. Each stroke is a point; therefore, a large percentage of golfers have an average score of 100. A beginning golfer should aim for a score of 90 in his first year of playing golf.

There are many factors that impact a person's golf score. The more time a person devotes to practicing, the more he can improve his swing and thus his score. A person's golf score depends partially on his stamina and strength. Combining other forms of exercise with golf could eventually lead to an improved score.
