What Are the Requirements for a Missouri Deer Hunting License?

The primary requirement to purchase a deer hunting permit in Missouri is being 6 years or older. Children under the age of 6 are the only class of people prohibited from participating in deer hunting. The secondary requirement is participation in an approved hunter education course.

Youth hunters between the ages of 6 and 15 who receive education certificates can hunt alone. If a youth hunter has not completed the program, he must hunt alongside a licensed adult. Hunters 16 years or older who have not completed a hunter education course may use an apprentice deer hunting permit, which requires that the apprentice hunter operate near a fully licensed and trained hunter. Hunters born before Jan. 1, 1967, are exempt from all requirements.
