Raleigh road bikes are manufactured in several countries including Taiwan, China, Japan, Canada and the United Kingdom. They are most commonly made in China. As of 2015, the Raleigh company does not have any bicycle manufacturing plants in the United States.
The manufacturing location can often be found within the bike's serial numbers, represented by the first letter in the series. Many models have a sticker or decal somewhere on the frame indicating the country where the bicycle was made.
Early Raleigh bicycles were manufactured exclusively in the United Kingdom. Company restructuring, increased demand and an expanded product line led to outsourcing of production.
