A public shooting range is a range dedicated to shooting that is open to the public. Public shooting ranges require small rental fees and shooters must typically be 18, 21 or accompanied by their legal guardian.
Public shooting ranges do not commonly require a license, but some states require a range permit or hunting license. Ranges typically have strict safety practices requiring that all firearms are unloaded upon entering or leaving the range. Ranges require users to have protective ear and eye protection at all times during shooting. Ranges will commonly rent firearms and protective gear, or owners may bring their own. Ranges also normally offer annual memberships to individuals and families.
