There are several women's professional wrestling companies in the United States, including Shimmer Women Athletes and Slammin Ladies. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) also have women's divisions.
Shimmer was founded in Chicago in 2005 and runs live events around Illinois, which are shown on Internet pay-per-view. The company also runs a sister promotion, Shine, based in Florida.
Slammin Ladies was founded in 2004 in Florida and tapes matches for release on DVD. The company encourages fan interaction, allowing people to select the matches they would like to see.
WWE and TNA are the two largest wrestling organizations in the U.S., and while they predominantly feature men's matches, both companies have female rosters and women's championship titles.
