The most popular sport in Vietnam is soccer, known as football to the local citizenry. Vietnamese people also engage in other sports, such as swimming, boxing, cycling, karate, tennis, judo and aerobics.
Sports started improving in Vietnam in 1975, and this allowed Vietnam to participate in many international events and competitions. Vietnamese people are also fans of English Premier League teams, and watch the games in restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. They also participate in traditional Chinese sports, such as badminton and table tennis. Vietnam is known for good performance in sports, such as shooting, chess and kung fu. Judo, karate and taekwondo are popular among the youth.
