Some popular fishing piers in North Carolina are the Avalon Fishing Pier, the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier and the Surf City Pier. The Johnnie Mercer’s Pier is also popular among locals and visitors.
Having turned 80 in 2014, the Johnnie Mercer’s Pier is a Wilmington landmark. It is 945 feet long and includes a restaurant, a bait and tackle shop, and a gift shop.
The Avalon Fishing Pier is located in the Kill Devil Hills and is 696 feet long. It boasts a gift shop, tackle shop and rentals for fishing equipment.
The Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is on Emerald Isle. It provides 1,000 feet of pier, along with an art gallery, multiple gift and bait shops, and dining establishments.
Surf City plays host to the 937-foot Surf City Pier. The pier has a restaurant, full fishing service and children’s activities.
