Good places to go deer hunting in Ohio are in designated American Electric Power public hunting areas. Find a full map of these designated hunting areas on wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/wildlifeareas.
The state of Ohio requires each hunter to have a hunting license and an either-sex deer permit or an antlerless deer permit to legally hunt deer. The Ohio Division of Wildlife sells all permits. With a valid permit, hunters may shoot no more than one deer per year as of 2015. It is possible to shoot other legal game, including wild boar and coyotes, as long as the hunter carries the license, permit and proper equipment.
