Some of the best-performing teams in Super Bowl history are the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and New York Giants. These teams have combined to win 24 of the 52 Super Bowls played and suffered only eight defeats.
The Steelers have won more Super Bowl victories than any other franchise, compiling a 6-2 record in their eight appearances. Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw was a perfect 4-0 in the big game.
The San Francisco 49ers have five Super Bowl victories against just one defeat. Four of the wins came under the leadership of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, also victorious in each Super Bowl contest he played in.
The Cowboys are 5-3 in the big game. Behind the play of Troy Aikman, the Cowboys' wins in Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII and XXX gave the franchise three wins in four years.
Winners of the first two Super Bowls, the Packers are 4-1 overall in the annual game. Bart Starr was named the Most Valuable Player in Super Bowls I and II; he and Bradshaw are the only players in NFL history to earn such back-to-back honors.
The Giants are also 4-1 all-time in Super Bowl appearances. The club's first came in Super Bowl XXI under head coach Bill Parcells, while the most recent, in XLVI, came under the guidance of Tom Coughlin.
