Parkour classes are instructed fitness courses that teach the training known as “parkour." Parkour includes moving over and around objects by jumping, running and climbing. Practitioners of parkour are referred to as “traceurs."
Parkour was founded in the 1980s by a group of nine men in France. The name “parkour” was first introduced in 1998 by David Belle, one of the founders. Parkour focuses on developing strength, balance and precision to move freely over any terrain using only the abilities of the body. Classes are typically taught inside a gym or large structure, and training for different age ranges is available.
