The next Winter Olympics are to be held in PyeongChang, South Korea from Feb. 9-25, 2018. These are the second Olympic Games to be held in South Korea. The location was chosen at the 123rd IOC Session on July 6 2011. The city won a majority vote in 2011 after campaigning to host the past three Winter Games.
The first Olympic Games held in South Korea were the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The 2018 Winter Olympics will be followed by the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China, the 2024 Winter Olympic Games in Paris, France, and the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in L.A., U.S. The location for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games has not yet been determined.
