The top five drivers that qualified for the 2015 Chase for the Sprint Cup were Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick. Other notable drivers that qualified for the Chase were Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr. and Jeff Gordon.
Jimmie Johnson was the highest-ranked driver at the beginning of the Chase. During the regular season, he won races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway and Dover International Speedway. However, Johnson was eliminated in the first round of the Chase.
Kyle Busch was injured for the beginning of the season. However, following three consecutive wins at Kentucky Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Busch entered the Chase as the second-ranked driver. After winning the final race of the postseason at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Busch won the 2015 Sprint Cup.
Matt Kenseth won races at Bristol Motor Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Michigan International Speedway and Richmond International Raceway. As a result, he entered the Chase as the third-ranked driver. However, he was eliminated in the second round of the Chase.
Kevin Harvick won two regular season races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway. He also finished in second place 10 times. As a result, he entered the Chase as the fifth-ranked driver. Harvick made it to the final round, where he finished in second place at Homestead-Miami Speedway behind Kyle Busch.
