View merit badge pamphlets online by purchasing them from the Boy Scouts Of America at ScoutStuff.org. The material presented within the pamphlets is copyright protected, and this is currently the only legal way to view the pamphlets. The Boy Scouts of America began rolling out online versions of its merit badge guides in 2015, releasing new pamphlets in waves every few months. These online packets include the same documentation and formatting as the physical versions of the pamphlets and are offered at the same price. The online versions also include instructional videos and interactive requirements, quizzes and checklists.
The BSA also allows organizations to legally post the existing requirements for earning various merit badges online. These checklists are useful for scouts and troop leaders to assess the time and effort commitments to earn each respective badge. With that information, scouts and leaders can make informed decisions about whether to purchase online or physical copies of the full merit badge pamphlets.
In the past, some troops have scanned and uploaded the documentation contained in the physical merit badge pamphlets themselves. This practice is actively discouraged by the BSA, and troops that continue to keep this information online do so expressly for the use of their own members.
