Liverpool F.C. has won the League Title 18 times, with the last one in the year 1989 to 1990. Its long-standing rival, Manchester United, is the only football club to eclipse this record with 20 League Titles.
Liverpool F.C. is one of the most successful English football clubs, winning the European Cup five times, the FA cup seven times, the League Cup eight times, the UEFA Champions league five times, and the UEFA Cup three times, along with its 18 League Titles. While Manchester United may have more League Titles, Liverpool F.C. has won more European trophies than any other English football club. However, Liverpool F.C. has yet to win the Premier League title since the inauguration of the league in 1992.
The football club was originally named Everton F.C. and Athletic Grounds Ltd. It was renamed Liverpool F.C. after a dispute with the Everton Committee and its founder John Houlding in 1892, which is the same year that is officially listed as the club's founding year.
Liverpool F.C. has played in Anfield stadium ever since it was formed. The club's most successful years came in the '70s and '80s when they won 11 of their 18 league titles and their seven European titles. The club and its fans are also associated with several football related tragedies, which include the Heysel Stadium disaster in 1985 and the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
