Joe Montana won three Super Bowl MVP awards during his Hall of Fame career. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback claimed the award in Super Bowls XVI, XIX and XXIV.
Montana is the only NFL player to claim the Super Bowl MVP award three times and win a total of four Super Bowl rings (following the 1981, 1984, 1988 and 1989 seasons). Montana is also remembered for never throwing a single interception in any of his four appearances in the championship game. The No. 16 jersey Montana wore has since been retired by the 49ers, and he was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
