The state of New York is home to 11 major and minor professional hockey teams, as of 2014. Three are in the National Hockey League, six in the American Hockey League, one in the East Coast Hockey League and one in the Federal Hockey League.
New York's National Hockey League teams are the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders and New York Rangers. In the American Hockey League, considered AAA level minor professional, are the Adirondack Flames, Albany Devils, Binghamton Senators, Syracuse Crunch, Rochester Americans and Utica Comets. In the AA level East Coast Hockey League are the Elmira Jackals, and the Watertown Wolves are in the A level Federal Hockey League.
