A professional soccer field ranges from 100 to 130 yards long and from 50 to 100 yards wide. FIFA, soccer's governing body, dictates these ranges and allows individual organizations to choose the field's final size.
Regardless of length, a soccer field has a line that divides the field in half. Players must remain on their team's half of the field until after the kickoff. Around the line is a 20-yard-wide circle where two players stand during the kickoff. Soccer goals are 24 feet wide and 8 feet tall. A line of white chalk called the touchline surrounds the field and marks the boundaries.
